To ensure a seamless payment experience for your customers, it's crucial to offer Google Pay as an option on your Express Checkout. However, certain prerequisites must be met for you or customers to see Google Pay.

In this article, we will guide you through the process of verifying these conditions to enable Google Pay on your platform.

Stripe

  1. Chrome browser: Google Pay only shows on Chrome 61 or newer.
  2. Chrome-based browsers may be supported, but it is not guaranteed to work (a Google restriction).
  3. Payment method on pay.google.com: You or the customer must have at least one payment method listed on their Google account at pay.google.com. You'll need to visit the site and add a valid payment method like a credit card or bank account before Google Pay shows on your store.
  4. Logged in to pay.google.com: You or the customer must be logged into the Google account with Google Pay in your browser. This doesn't mean you have to be logged into Chrome itself, just be logged into a Google account on any Google website.

Square

With Square, Google Pay works in any browser, not just Google Chrome.

Square also does not require a logged in Google account and will prompt you upon clicking Google Pay if login is required.

Showing Apple Pay at the same time

With Square, it's possible for Apple Pay to also be visible when Google Pay is.
